According to the Lyst Index’s Q1 2021 report, Gucci still remains the hottest fashion brand in the world.
The Lyst Index is a quarterly ranking of fashion’s hottest brands and products. Global search platform Lyst analyzes the online shopping trends of more than nine million shoppers a month, across 12,000 designers and stores online. It also takes into account global sales, as well as brands’ social media engagement statistics worldwide.
Gucci had snagged the top spot for Q4 2020 for the second consecutive year, and for Q1 2021, it seems nothing has changed. It retains strong demand from online shoppers, including for its 100th anniversary collection, and the upcoming film House of Gucci.
Nike comes in second, with most of its buzz generated due to MSCHF and Lil Nas X’s ‘Satan Shoes’ controversy.
As per HYPEBEAST, for the first time ever, Dior has been included in the Lyst Index, and debuts at third right away.
Lyst had previously excluded the brand due to its distribution model, but with a rising demand for vintage Dior, it can now be considered by the report. Louis Vuitton also enters for the first time, ranking at seventh, despite limited distribution through Lyst.
Fourth spot goes to Balenciaga, knocking Virgil Abloh’s Off-White all the way down to 10th. Despite announcing seven new sneakers with Nike, it seems the streetwear brand hasn’t fared too well coming into 2021.
Fifth on the list is French brand Moncler, followed by Prada, Louis Vuitton, Bottega Veneta, Saint Laurent, and Off-White rounding off the top ten.
Q1’s hottest women’s product was The North Face x Gucci GG Canvas Bomber Jacket, a collaboration which helped cement Gucci in the top spot. Next was the Hermés pre-owned Kelly bag, followed by the Bottega Veneta Lug boot, and Prada’s re-edition 2005 nylon bag.
For men, YEEZY was the most sought after product with the Adidas YEEZY 450 sneakers, followed by the Moncler Gui vest, Prada logo bucket hat, and Nike Dunk Low sneakers. With winter over and Spring already here, we’re likely to see fewer jackets and boots in Q2’s top ten list.
