Twitter could be launching a subscription service soon, as uncovered by tech reverse engineer Jane Manchun Wong. Named ‘Twitter Blue’, the service could cost users US$3 a month.
This news hasn’t come out of the blue, with Twitter itself saying it was planning to “build and shape a future subscription service” in a blog post this month.
While it’s unclear when exactly ‘Twitter Blue’ will launch, the app has surveyed and tested features among selected users, as per CNET.
Some of the subscription service’s features could include undoing tweets and getting exclusive content from a creator for a monthly fee. It could also offer users an ad-free Twitter experience.
Wong posited that ‘Twitter Blue’ could have a tiered pricing model, with users who pay more getting access to more features.
She also leaked one of the features, ‘Collections’, which will allow users to save their favorite tweets so it’s easier to find them later.
