Have you binged Netflix’s latest biopic on designer Roy Halston Frowick?
Now, the streaming giant is dipping its toes into the fashion world by collaborating with the American luxury brand for a 10-piece capsule collection inspired by the HALSTON limited series.
According to Fast Company, the fashion range will feature 10 gowns—priced between US$995 to US$1,595—and will be available for preorder in June. If you’re coveting a dress onscreen, there’s a chance you could own it in real life.
In February this year, after filming on the show wrapped up, Netflix and Halston entered discussions on creating a collection together.
The fashion house’s CEO Robert Rodriguez worked closely with Netflix to choose which outfits from the show to recreate for consumers. They settled on 10 designs popular in the 70s and 80s that would also appeal to the current market.
“It was an opportunity to bring back iconic gowns that Halston himself created, but reinterpret them to make them more modern,” said Rodriguez.
Retailers Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus will be featuring the designs in their window displays come August, so you can pick out your favorite.
Rodriguez hopes this partnership with Netflix will bring Halston back into the spotlight. “Netflix has such enormous reach that the show is going to introduce a younger generation to the brand that did not know Halston,” he said.
While Netflix is a key part of the collaboration, it won’t be receiving any of the revenue from the sale of the collection. Instead, it sees the opportunity as a marketing partnership for both brands to promote the other.
Who knows, in the foreseeable future, you may just be able to don outfits from your favorite series in real life.
