Renowned graphic designer Stefan Sagmeister has embodied an eyebrow-raising muse for a new collaboration with Swiss eyewear brand
götti Switzerland.
On the nose bridge, Frida Kahlo’s famous unibrow appears to frame the pair of sunglasses in a trim, single brushstroke, giving the wearer a “monobrow” as they stay protected from UVA/UVB rays behind anti-reflective photochromatic lenses.
Meanwhile, Filipino graphic designer
Raxenne Maniquiz fills the eyewear’s packaging with flora and fauna. A clever ‘Frida’ logomark with a strong unibrow underscores the box.
Sagmeister says he is often in awe of the standout artists whose features—“like Salvador Dalí’s mustache or Andy Warhol’s wig”—have transformed into personal “logos.” And the unibrow is certainly Kahlo’s.
Only 300 pairs of these sunglasses will be available, with each being numbered, when orders open on June 10, 2021.
