This summer, the world’s very first 10K planetarium is opening its doors in France. Located in an old World War 2 bunker, the La Coupole Planetarium has teamed up with Sony to install an amazing 3D stargazing cinema on its premises.
The 10K 3D image will be stitched together by 12 Sony VPL-GTZ380s, one of the most advanced Sony 4K projectors, which will then be projected onto a domed viewing screen. Each projector boasts 10,000 lumens laser light sources, promising incredible brightness and depth of dark colors.
Together with RSA Cosmos’s SkyExplorer 2021 astronomical software, La Coupole Planetarium created three high-detail projector shows exploring the solar system, night sky, and moon landings.
The planetarium will host daily showings of its 3D films, allowing guests to get a closer look at our solar system than ever before.
Adding to the cool factor of the planetarium are seats that which a control panel on the armrest. According to What Hi-Fi, they allow the audience to react directly to the display from where they’re seated, be it quiz answers, choosing different scenarios, or even controlling the camera movement of the onscreen simulation.
