Encrypted messaging app Telegram has introduced a slew of new features this week, including highly-anticipated group video calls. Voice chats in any group can now be turned into video conferences with just a tap of a button.
Not only does this new feature allow you to turn any group chat into a live video session, Telegram has also added in functions that allow video calls to be fullscreen, with pinning available so a key screen can be the focus of a call.
It also allows users to share screens while in video call mode, and is available throughout all platforms, including smartphones, tablets, and desktops.
According to CNET, up to 30 users can participate in a single group video call, with the tech firm planning to expand the limit in the near future.
In the company’s statement, Telegram hints at future possibilities of streaming games, live events, and more via this new video call feature.
For those who love to munch on snacks while chatting, the messaging app has also included noise suppression options. Users can toggle this function on and off as from the settings.
For tablets and desktops with a wider screen, users can also opt to open the side panel or see a split-screen view. Different layouts are optimized for portrait or landscape settings, so you always get the best view of your pals.
