Valuart, a new NFT trading platform created by cryptocurrency enthusiasts Etan Genini, Vittorio Grigòlo, and Michele Fiscalini, has announced the first piece it will be auctioning.
The digital artwork, Spike—inspired by Banksy’s physical artwork of the same name—will be auctioned off as an NFT, with 50% of the proceeds going to charity.
Cofounder Grigòlo owns the original artwork created by the famed street artist, and has turned it into a CGI recreation to be traded as Valuart’s first-ever offering. In the digital version,
Spike slowly drifts through the universe, finally returning to Earth where he belongs.
The inspiration behind the platform at large was to reimagine classic art pieces and create contemporary visions that can be sold as NFTs. This will allow collectors to acquire more than just an artwork, including a new conceptual experience.
“Creative history is being made and traded,” reported
Bitcoinist.
More than just recreating any famed artwork, in order for a piece to be traded on the platform, a given artwork must first be authenticated on a blockchain in collaboration with the owner of the physical asset, as cofounder Grigòlo did with the Banksy artwork.
The platform, together with the Banksy NFT, will launch on July 22, welcoming yet another player to the already expansive NFT marketplace.
