Harley-Davidson Announces Electric Motorcycle That’s Kinder On Your Bank Account

As the EV market spreads its wings, Harley-Davidson has done the same for bikes, having gone down the paths of electric bicycle and motorcycle production in the past couple of years.
The LiveWire, Harley-Davidson’s first electric motorcycle which saw the light of day in 2019, faced some early production problems and was pretty expensive, Engadget noted. The brand’s next-gen electric wheels—the cheaper, new and improved LiveWire ONE—sets to overcome these road bumps.
At US$21,999, the LiveWire ONE is 35% cheaper than its US$29,799 predecessor—that’s about US$8,000 knocked off the original price. Riders could even nab one for cheaper with federal subsidies.
And with an extended range in the new model, there’s really no reason to get the old LiveWire. On slower city streets, the LiveWire ONE can supposedly reach 146 miles on a single charge, as opposed to the original’s maximum of 110 miles.
The LiveWire ONE can be juiced up from zero to 80% in about 45 minutes if you use a DC fast charger. Braking and turning are also easier with its six-axis inertial measurement unit.
The motorcycle marks Harley-Davidson officially spinning LiveWire into a standalone brand. The model will first be presented at the Progressive IMS Outdoors Northern California, previously the International Motorcycle Show, on July 18.
Would-be riders based in New York, California, and Texas will have first dibs on the LiveWire ONE soon, though more dealers should be stocking the bike by fall.
