FIFA 22 is set to introduce an all-new technology, ‘HyperMotion’, which will enhance gameplay and take players’ motions to previously unprecedented heights.
‘HyperMotion’ incorporates real-world elements and machine learning technology to create an extremely realistic picture of movement during a game. Xsens suits were worn by 22 professional footballers on the field, capturing movement data, which was then used to create more than 4,000 new animations from a proprietary machine learning algorithm.
The result? “The most realistic, fluid and responsive football experience,” according to EA.
Due to the AI technology utilized in the game and power required to experience these new technologies, FIFA 22 is set for release only on next-gen consoles, as well as cloud gaming service Stadia. These will include PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Origin and Steam), PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
“Each player experiences FIFA in their own way but on-pitch gameplay is the unifying constant, so we’re excited to offer deep innovation there,” said Nick Wlodyka, EA Sports’ General Manager, in the press release. “‘HyperMotion’ elevates that even further on next-gen consoles and Stadia and completely changes the feel of the game.”
FIFA 22 is scheduled for worldwide release on October 1 and is available for pre-order now.
