Flying cars? Over. We’re now looking forward to flying motorcycles. California-based JetPack Aviation has been working on a jet-powered flying motorcycle, and it’s recently completed an initial flight testing of its prototype.
According to Luxurylaunches, the firm completed five months of testing in May this year, achieving several benchmarks such as demonstrating “the Speeder’s ability to take-off, climb, hover, yaw, and perform slow transitions into forward flight.”
The Jetpack Aviation Speeder is set to be available in a recreational and military or commercial model, and is touted as a jet-powered, vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft that will be compact enough to be transported in a car or motorcycle trailer.
The brand claims it will be able to achieve a top speed of over 300mph, and carry a maximum load of 600 pounds, while cruising at an altitude of 15,000 feet above ground.
Jetpack Aviation is already working on its next prototype model, P1.5, which will aim to use a smaller frame featuring carbon-fiber body panels. This will be followed up with the P2 prototype, which will have a fully-formed body and compact wings.
The eventual retail models of the motorcycle are expected to be powered by up to eight engines each. While its current engines can run on jet fuel, diesel, or kerosene, the brand says it is committed to prioritizing zero-net carbon fuel instead. Check it out

The Speeder will cost approximately US$380,000, though the price is likely to increase by the time it’s available for production.
