PANTONE Officially Recognizes Hong Kong Tramway Green As A New Color

PANTONE has officially introduced a new shade of green, dubbed the ‘HK Tram Green’, as a tribute to the city’s iconic mode of public transportation.
The shade is a vivid, deep grassy green to commemorate the historical and cultural significance of the trams in the city, as well as its status as a global landmark.
According to the Hong Kong Tatler, the double-decker trams, known as “ding ding” by the locals, started operating in Hong Kong from 1904. It still remains one of the city’s most economical modes of transport, with commuters getting a unique experience of the city each time they get on.
“This unique green shade will be included into a collection of six colors specially selected from the PANTONE Color System. We appreciated the opportunity to work with HK Tramways to create a color that could showcase the historical and cultural significance of the HK Tram within Hong Kong,” said Laurie Pressman, Vice-President of the PANTONE Color Institute.
To celebrate the introduction of the new PANTONE hue, HK Tramways will be partnering with lifestyle retailer ISSHO46 to launch a new HK Collection featuring goods inspired by different elements of the vibrant city, such as trams, landmarks, and local cultural icons.
The transportation firm will also mark its 117th anniversary with popup events across the city.
