If you’ve ever wanted to match the red-and-white striped packaging of tasty KFC chicken, well, this collection is for you.
Teaming up with fashion designer Amos Ananda Yeo of the Amos Ananda brand, KFC is serving up 11 new apparel items including hoodies, a Hawaiian shirt, a tote bag, and a bucket hat that is literally reminiscent of a bucket of chicken. It’s the exact same color scheme, and both have almost the same shape.
After the success of KFC’s limited run of fried-chicken-themed face masks earlier this year, the brand decided to tap an emerging designer for this collection. Yeo had returned home to Singapore from his studio based in Shenzhen, China, due to the pandemic. He was spotted by KFC when he began a home business selling hei piah, a local treat of fried prawn-fritters, and found immense success.
According to Wonderwall, the brand found that the collaboration would not only give Yeo’s business a platform, but also help to boost the streetwear scene, in which boldly splashed logos and pop culture tributes find their own trend.
Unfortunately, the literal-bucket-bucket-hat and its counterparts aren’t all that easy to get your hands on. The collaboration is limited to the regional market located in Singapore, with items are available only through the fast-food chain’s official Shopee store, starting next week.
This isn’t the only KFC-themed merchandise up for grabs; KFC UK has its own limited-time lineup with slides and a reversible bucket hat: chicken on one side, branding on the other. They join the existing offerings on the KFC shop.
Just in case you were running out of ways to showcase your love for a piping hot bucket of delicious fried chicken.
