At the end of this month, Italian couture fashion label Dolce & Gabbana (D&G) will join the ranks of fashion houses making their debuts in the metaverse in the form of NFTs. D&G’s take, Collezione Genesi, will feature items designed by the brand’s co-founders, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.
The NFTs will be revealed on UNXD, a luxury marketplace built on Polygon that is meant to boast cheaper transactions in comparison with the usual Ethereum platforms. This collection will focus on artistic Venetian traditions, and seeing D&G merge tradition with technology in sense of concept and execution.
First in line is a concept titled Dress from a Dream, based on a vivid dream the creative designers had, according to Vogue. Apart from this, there isn’t much other information about the launch or the items, and fans are being kept in eager anticipation.
However, additional items in the series will be unveiled in the coming weeks before the fashion house’s upcoming shows (Alta Moda, Alta Sartoria, and Alta Gioielleria), before being auctioned.
Collezione Genesi will launch to the public on August 28 at the start of the Alta Moda show in Venice, with the official auction going live September 6.
Thanks to the hundreds of you who joined live for our event on bridging #NFTs & the physical world. Recording published soon.
