With the upcoming IAA Mobility 2021 show running in early September this year, Porsche has allowed fans a tiny glimpse of what is about to come.
On Instagram, the German luxury car manufacturer posted a teaser for an electric concept, which it says will be fully revealed on September 6 at the show, operating in Munich this year.
“Motorsports have been the toughest testing grounds for engineering innovations on their way to series production,” the caption declares, hinting at the direction the vehicle would be taking.
As CNET states, the closeup of the headlight suggests something reminiscent to the Porsche Taycan, but the mention of motorsports indicates a pivot away from the regular SUV that might perhaps spring to mind.
Its homage to the company’s first EV may hint towards an electric innovation born into the world of motorsports. “Cutting edge technology combined with breath-taking design” is the way forward, Porsche writes.
It has been speculated that Porsche is working on an electric version of the current Boxster, Car and Driver reported in May. The 718 Boxster and Cayman seem to be the most likely candidates for this, joining the Macan.
The “future-oriented” concept is set to hit the stage at IAA 2021, and online on Porsche’s Newsroom.
