Earlier this month, Banksy took to parts across England to embark on a graffiti spree in broad daylight, aptly calling it “
A Great British Spraycation.” In a video, the elusive street artist even let on how he would evade detection when working on smaller pieces with the help of a beach windbreaker.
Banksy has been pulling such stunts for decades without being identified, and how he’s succeeded in doing so—especially for larger artworks—has mystified observers around the world. However, items supposedly discovered at the site of one of his recent murals might finally offer some answers.
According to TikTok account Urban Art Club, “evidence” in the form of ties, scaffolding and tarpaulin was apparently found near a new mural of a seagull swooping in on a real-life dumpster.
This suggests that Banksy could have set up a cover by inserting the ties in the tarpaulin and reinforcing it into scaffolding.
Until today, Banksy’s true identity remains unknown. But in order to continue this streak of staying hidden, the artist might have to switch techniques, now that his methods have possibly been uncovered.
