In the blink of an eye, it’s already the last quarter of the year, and we’re now getting our first outlook for graphic design trends in 2022.
As the world has retreated indoors with their devices as its only companions, next year is anticipated to be dominated by bold and expressive visuals to catch the eye from busy feeds. That’s according to infographic maker Venngage, which has just shared its predictions for how graphic design might evolve in the coming year.
With the challenging past year, social issues that were simmering beneath the surface have bubbled over into the world’s gaze. As such, you can certainly expect more focus to be placed on icons, illustrations, and photos with an emphasis on a wider range of ethnicities, body types, orientations, and abilities.
Interestingly, the platform foresees a rise in serif typography. Such fonts are elegant and classy, but perhaps the most important—albeit less tangible—reason for this is that they offer a sense of security, serving as a reminder of less complicated times.
Also notable is the prevalence of reactive advertising, which sees brands quickly creating memes in response to current trends or issues.
Venngage has named eight graphic design trends shaping up to go big in 2022. Have a quick rundown of them in the infographic below, and read its full report here for more insights.
