Starbucks found its humble beginnings in Seattle in 1971. Now, five decades later, it finds itself one of the largest companies in the world with a name pretty much synonymous with coffee itself.

That’s an achievement deserving of a celebration, and the coffeehouse is pulling out all the stops for its latest anniversary campaign: Possible is Just the Beginning.

The company writes that it’s “looking forward to the next 50 years of Starbucks,” working with its customers and partners to “create a better future for people and the planet we all share.”

With eco-friendly movements taking centerstage in this months-long celebration, Starbucks is looking to make improvements in its planet-friendly initiatives, including a detailed plan on its sustainability commitments.

It also has goals set for 2030: to achieve carbon-neutral green coffee, and to be able to conserve half the water usage in green coffee processing.

Alongside this, it’s also investing into its people: it highlights the College Achievement Plan as well as a pledge to racial equity, which include a civil rights assessment and anti-bias training.

There is also a hunger relief program underway, which sees the brand reinvesting around US$100 million into these efforts over the next decade with another US$45 million going towards hunger relief from Starbucks Corporation. There will also be an estimated 33.7 million meals donated through FoodShare.

“We know our success—past, present, and future—is built on how we partner together. This culture of belonging is both our heritage and our future,” states Kevin Johnson, CEO of Starbucks.

Finally, for a bit of nostalgia for the iconic brand many can thank for the aroma of coffee wafting out of every street corner, Starbucks has also compiled an archive highlighting iconic moments in the last 50 years of its history.
