Ba da ba ba blockchain. On October 8, McDonald’s in China unleashed its first-ever non-fungible token (NFT) to commemorate the fast-food giant’s 31st anniversary of establishing its presence in the nation.

The Big Mac Rubik’s Cube digital art is a fun 3D graphical treatment of the restaurant’s newly-built Chinese office headquarters, a structure of three segmented layers with glass floor-to-ceiling windows.

The colorful NFT version envisions the cube’s layer rotating like a plastic Rubik’s cube to reveal McDonald’s-themed motifs. It’s got the vibe of a Happy Meal toy, offering a hypothetical glimpse at future McDonald’s collectibles.
In its press release, McDonald’s China details that 188 NFTs are being designated to employees and customers as part of a giveaway.
The project was launched in collaboration with digital asset creation agency Cocafe, promising every piece is “unique, indivisible and can not be tampered with,” and will be minted on public blockchain Confluux.
