If you’re the sort who enjoys eating their fill after a great workout, this McDonald’s in Germany might be the one to literally float your boat.
The location is the only McDonald’s restaurant in the world with a “float-thru,” and English YouTuber Tom Scott got the chance to grab some nosh there. Called the ‘McBoat’, it features a dock for customers to sail or paddle up to.
The “float-thru” term would have been more fitting years back, when the outlet had positioned a typical drive-thru microphone system by the McBoat. However, as technology has progressed, the equipment is no longer there, and kayakers and boaters will have to place their orders through their smartphones to pick up their food from the dock.
The feature already sets the McDonald’s outlet apart from every other counterpart in the world, but Scott left out one crucial detail until the last moment: “I didn’t mention exactly where in Germany we are. Because it is quite apt that the world’s only float-through McDonald’s is in Hamburg.”
Specifically, the McBoat is situated by a canal off the Elbe river, if you fancy a splendid river view to go with your burger and fries.
