‘Garden City’ In Paris Concept Envisages It As A Gorgeous, Green Place To Live

Architecture firm Rescubika has come up with an incredible Garden City of the Crescent Moon concept visualized to serve as an enclave in the heart of Paris for sustainability and eco-conscious living.
The site, which follows the existing winding shape of Lac des Minimes in the Bois de Vincennes, is conceptualized to be located on the east of the French capital, within the largest public park the city has to offer. The team hopes to merge the relaxing greenery and its surroundings, with new ways to obtain locally-sourced food for those living there.
The project’s lead architect Benoit Patterlini believes it could support myriad plants and animals. He envisions it as a place where farmers can grow produce such as corn, beans, and herbs, as well as raise cattle sustainably.
In addition to agriculture and livestock, the new city could introduce farmers’ markets and farm-to-table restaurants to make use of the locally-grown ingredients.

According to My Modern Met, the Garden City involves two main ideas: proximity and instantaneity. In order to minimize environmental impact, and make full use of locally-sourced goods, it’s key for the city to be within arm’s reach of its farms and production facilities. Instantaneity, on the other hand, is defined as the constituents’ ability “to enjoy urban facilities.”
With more thought being poured into urban design in recent years, with a focus on eco-consciousness, plans such as Rescubika’s could come to life in the near future. Who wouldn’t want to merge the conveniences of urban landscapes with a more sustainable way of living?
