From an air purifier that doubles as a side table to an invisible wireless charger and a table lamp speaker, IKEA appears to have a solution for every work-from-home need. This extends to objects that rarely cross your mind, like curtains.
If your roommate is in the other room having a charged online discussion with coworkers, and your “soundproof” walls aren’t effective enough, don’t move out just yet. The furniture giant has launched a GUNNLAUG sound-absorbing curtain as an added silencing layer for rooms.

With its simple aesthetics, the chic curtain—available in white and gray—can blend into most homes. It’s also translucent to soften light. GUNNLAUG’s star quality, of course, is its ability to absorb echo and reverberation of medium and high frequencies.
The curtain is ISO 354 certified, and its makeup of 100% recycled chenille yarn in a weave construction absorbs 50% to 100% more sound “than other fabrics with similar quality and weight.”

To put it simply, the curtain is great at lowering noises of everyday activities like the ringing sound of cutlery, the clattering of dishes, and the screeching of chairs when they’re being moved around.
For best effect, IKEA recommends that the curtains be arranged in pleats rather than fully extended, creating a thicker absorption layer.

The sound-absorbing curtain is priced at US$49.99 and can be purchased at IKEA.com and in stores.
