The confinements of royal life were something that Princess Diana grappled with, so whenever she could, she’d introduce pockets of normalcy to her young sons—like a trip to Disney World, where they’d mingle in the crowd. It’s inclinations like these that made her extremely relatable, earning her the moniker of the People’s Princess.
Among the several moments of a regular life captured in Pablo Larraín’s
Spencer was a scene of the princess (played by Kristen Stewart) enjoying a KFC Bargain Bucket with her children William and Harry, which was evidently the highlight of the film for the folks at KFC UK & Ireland. And to celebrate this brand placement, the fried chicken chain has recreated one of Diana Spencer’s most recognizable looks and called it ‘
The Spencer’.

On several occasions during the 80s and 90s, Princess Diana was famously photographed wearing a
red sweater sporting a pattern of white sheep with a rogue black one. Like many of her other outfits, it can be said that this piece represented her identity and what she was feeling; she clearly felt like the odd one out in the royal family.
Tatler reports that this garment is in the permanent collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum.
KFC has paid homage to the sheep sweater, but being KFC, it’s swapped the livestock for a flock of chickens—lone black chook included—“for a tasty dash of KFC.”

According to Collider, Diana’s iconic sweater doesn’t appear in
Spencer. However, viewers get a glimpse of it in Emma Corrin’s Princess Diana interpretation in
The Crown.
In line with the charitable nature of the Princess of Wales, KFC is donating 100% of proceeds from the £34.99 (US$47) sweater to the KFC Foundation, which is a partner of several UK nonprofits supporting young people. Only 300 pieces will be available for sale.
To commemorate Spencer’s KFC scene, the chain has also designated 100 free sweaters for the first 100 customers to order a Bargain Bucket at its Leicester Square outlet.
