Twitter is expanding its premium subscription service, Twitter Blue, to users in the United States and New Zealand. Previously, it had only been testing the service in Australia and Canada.
For US$2.99 a month, you’ll be able to access additional features, including the highly-anticipated ability to “undo” tweets. While you still can’t edit tweets after they’ve been posted, you’ll now be able to hit “undo” if you spot a mistake or spelling error before your tweet goes out, much like with emails.
Interestingly, one of the key new features offered by Twitter Blue is the ability for users to enjoy news articles, ad-free. Subscribers will get access to articles from more than 300 publishers globally without pesky popups, including titles such as The Atlantic and Rolling Stone.
According to CNBC, a portion of the proceeds from users’ subscriptions will go towards the participating publications.
Additionally, as per Engadget, premium users will be able to rearrange the shortcuts on the app’s navigation bar, as well as choose from new color themes and icons.
You’ll be able to try out new features in Twitter’s beta testing before they go public, which currently enables users to upload videos of up to 10 minutes, and pin conversations in DMs.
The company said that these features in testing “might eventually become available to the rest of Twitter, graduate to a feature of Twitter Blue, or sunset based on feedback we hear from subscribers.”
“What we really are trying to achieve here with the subscription is a set of features that we think resonate with the power users who want more control, want more customization over Twitter,” explained Sara Beykpour, Twitter’s Senior Director of Product.
