With the mysterious Apple Car still a little ways down the road—reports suggest a 2025 date, at the very least—there’s plenty of time to have it up on your vision board, if that’s still a thing. As of now, there are only a few crumbs to follow, making it difficult to envision this futuristic automobile. Luckily, car leasing company Vanarama has done the legwork and visualized it in 3D.
Instead of following insider leaks, the platform has gone straight to the source, Apple itself, to dream up what the Apple Car might look like up close. Specifically, it’s taken a look at patents that the Cupertino tech giant has already submitted in the US, Europe, and Japan.
To start off, Vanarama is imagining an SUV as the vehicle (pun intended) to carry all these features, which is very much “in line with automotive trends.”

According to Apple’s patents, the car could use a pillarless structure to remove obstructions inside the vehicle, adaptive doors that move fluidly instead of a single open and close direction, and scooped windows to prevent your head from knocking the ceiling during boarding.
The interior is where Apple’s profound UI/UX expertise is expected to shine. Similar to the iPhone’s home screen, it could sport a fully customizable dashboard that lets drivers move controls around. And, like the “single slab of glass” envisioned by former design chief Sir Jony Ive, the car’s displays might be seamless, connecting the dashboard with the central control panel.

Not to mention, the software would be Siri-enabled. Not only would the virtual assistant answer general questions, but it could also provide driving-related advice like road condition information.
Vanarama has also taken some creative liberties to build this sleek car. For instance, it has “iPhone-inspired door handles” shaped like the side buttons of the smartphone, along with a paint job in the popular frosted white finish.

Do note, however, that this design is highly speculative, since Apple doesn’t always bring its patents to fruition. More than anything, the conceptual car is a fun visual overview of the ideas that the company has had so far.
