Sleek Ring Could Bring A Non-Invasive Way To Track Blood Pressure, Glucose, More

A new kid on the health industry block is Movano, which is debuting its first product at the upcoming CES 2022. This is the ‘Movano Ring’, a health- and fitness-centric wearable device that hopes to “inspire and empower” its wearers to “live a healthier, happier life.”
Designed specifically for women, the Movano Ring and its dedicated accompanying app help to track lifestyle habits such as activity, exercise, and sleep. Areas like heart rate, respiration, and temperature are tracked by the small device, which will provide “continuous health data.”
With this knowledge, it’s hoped that users will be able to make lifestyle changes for better overall health as well as be able to “take a more proactive approach to mitigating the risks of chronic disease.”
“Movano was founded on the core belief that good health is a fundamental human right, but good health requires more than a few static metrics from an annual physical,” says John Mastrototaro, CEO of Movano, in a news release.
One example of a lifestyle change users can track with the Ring is the correlation between increased exercise and heart health.
Apart from this, the company is also trialing the use of radiofrequency technology to allow the ring to monitor things like blood pressure and blood glucose levels in the future. TechSpot notes that this is a non-invasive alternative to the conventional constant glucose monitor (CGM), which requires a needle to remain permanently inserted in the body.
“The initial Movano Ring is our foundational product as we work toward gaining FDA clearances, so that we can provide medical data to users in a step-by-step fashion over time,” Mastrototaro elaborates.
Although a fixed price isn’t available yet, the firm has said that the Movano Ring is “expected to be one of the most affordable health devices on the market.” It’s scheduled to be made available in the second half of next year.
