Samsung Unveils Galaxy S22 Lineup, Touting Next-Gen Connectivity & Photography
During Wednesday’s Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung revealed a bevy of new smartphones and tablets, including the new Galaxy S22 smartphone lineup.
These consist of three brand new models: the S22, S22+, and the S22 Ultra. Their displays measure 6.1 inches, 6.6 inches, and 6.8 inches respectively.
Samsung states that this lineup boasts the “best camera, performance, and connectivity ever on a Galaxy smartphone.” Four colorways will be available: white, pink, black, and green; and, the more premium S22 Ultra will also have an additional burgundy option.
The latter two devices will be able to connect to cutting-edge 5G, while all three will be able to use the new generation of Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi 6.
The S22 Ultra will also come with a built-in S-Pen, just like the beloved Note. It’s the first time the S Pen will be coming to an S series device, the company states, which is the “fastest, most responsive” S Pen it has “ever made.” It has 70% lower latency, which enables users to write and draw “more naturally” and “explore apps in new ways.”
Artificial intelligence is also incorporated in the new devices, which is said to enable smoother scrolling, optimizing internet connectivity, and improved photography, which is also being enhanced by a three-lens camera system.
The S22 Ultra, in particular, will feature a 108 MP main camera while the other two are 10 MP telephoto lenses, allowing for closer zooming.
Besides the new smartphones, Samsung also introduced a new lineup of tablets, the Galaxy Tab S8, S8+, and S8 Ultra. There’s also a new pack of updated features for the Watch4 to ensure that everything in the ecosystem works perfectly in this “new era of connectivity.”
The Galaxy S22 Ultra starts at US$1,199.99 and will be available from February 25, 2022. Pre-orders for the other two phones in the lineup began on Wednesday, starting from US$299.99.
