In a bid to “democratize creativity,” popular photo and video editing app Picsart is distributing its APIs with developers and brands who may wish to provide its powerful tools in their own apps, even if they don’t have the expertise.

As consumers turn to quick and simple editing features every day, Picsart says it is making those digital creation capabilities more accessible by handing them over to businesses or developers. The new Picsart for Developers program brings access to some of the platform’s most favored AI-assisted features, including one-touch background removal, resolution upscaling, style transfers, filters, core adjusting options, and uploading.

“Offering a suite of powerful, user-friendly tools through a new API program is a natural extension of our brand promise to democratize creativity,” the company details in a blog post.

According to digital intelligence firm SensorTower (via PetaPixel), Picsart is among the top 20 most-downloaded apps in the world. Its prominence speaks of a global need to design, tweak, and share impactful imagery quickly.

“Our vision is to empower creators everywhere, and Picsart leads the market with our innovative AI, photo, and video editing capabilities,” says CEO and founder Hovhannes Avoyan. “Offering our technology through APIs to developers is an exciting way we can support the booming creator economy.”

With digital creation being rooted in everyday lives, Avoyan adds that “companies everywhere must adapt to these realities, and offer deeper creative experiences… [and] our API enables them to do that.”

Picsart hasn’t disclosed pricing details but has stated that the initiative is by invitation only. It intends to open up its program to more partners in the upcoming months. Head here to find out more.
