Gucci has unveiled forthcoming plans to launch its own digital escapade on virtual real estate platform The Sandbox, in a bid to attract metaverse enthusiasts with interactive experiences.
The brand isn’t new to the virtual world, having launched Supergucci NFTs last month.
According to Highsnobiety, the fashion house has purchased an undisclosed amount of land on the network and will work with the site to create interactive user experiences based on Gucci Vault, its digital offshoot.
The Sandbox revealed that the luxury brand will release fashion items in the metaverse that users can buy, own, and use in their own experiences.
The virtual space “will be inspired by childhood memories of the search for beauty, which brings to Gucci Maze,” the platform said.
While not much else has been disclosed just yet, it appears that Gucci will use its dedicated Discord channel to communicate with fans interested in the metaverse.
As per Vogue Business, it’s currently recruiting a full-time manager for the server, with responsibilities including overseeing NFT “megafans” and staying on the “bleeding edge” of digital trends.
Instead of a typical resumé, applicants have been asked to submit their Twitter account information and favorite NFT memes.
As one of theearlier adopters of the metaverse, it’s unsurprising Gucci is looking to cement itself as a forerunner in the industry with its very own virtual land.
Perhaps, this could attract a new demographic of buyers for the brand.
