Pepsi Launches First-Of-Its-Kind Cola Infused With Nitrogen For A Frothy Head

In its “most ambitious feat yet,” Pepsi has created a whole new spin on the soda, by creating a first-of-its-kind nitrogen-infused drink that promises a creamier and smoother sip than the usual carbonated beverages.
Named ‘Nitro Pepsi’, the new offering will be available in the US from March 28, in both regular and vanilla flavors.
If nitro drinks sound familiar, that’s because you’d probably have come across alcoholic and coffee drinks, such as Starbucks’ nitro cold brew offerings.
Usually, nitrogen-infused drinks have to be dispensed out of a tap, but Pepsi has devised a new way of containing it in a can.
According to CNN, Pepsi looked to what Guinness had done with its canned stout, and added a widget at the bottom that will create the “frothy, foamy, smooth texture unique to Nitro Pepsi.”
Due to its frothy head, Pepsi recommends people drink the beverage without ice and a straw, and fully inverting the can into a glass, so you’ll get to experience the optimal “foam mustache.”
“While soda has been a beverage of choice for so many consumers over the past century, some people still cite heavy carbonation as a barrier to enjoying an ice-cold cola,” said Todd Kaplan, Vice President of Marketing at Pepsi.
As such, Nitro Pepsi is a “huge leap forward for the cola category” and will appeal even to those who traditionally dislike sodas.
