Nike Suspends Online Sales In Russia As Shipping Partners Bow Out
By Alexa Heah, 03 Mar 2022
Nike has announced it will no longer be taking orders from Russia via its online store and app, as recent events have made it unable to guarantee deliveries into the country.
“Nike cannot currently guarantee delivery of goods to customers in Russia. As a result, merchandise purchases on nike.com and the Nike app are temporarily suspended in this region,” the brand wrote on its Russian site.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the sportswear brand told customers to head to retail stores should they wish to make a purchase, with 116 outlets spread across the nation.
As per Input, while Nike didn’t provide details on why it was struggling with deliveries, it could be due to shipping partners, such as FedEx and United Parcel Service (UPS), recently suspending shipments to Russia.
Earlier this week, other global brands, including Apple and Adidas, halted the sale of goods in Russia and sponsorship of its national soccer team respectively, in a show of solidarity with Ukraine.
