TikTok’s Reportedly Testing ‘Watch History’, Shows Old Videos You Forgot To Save
By Alexa Heah, 30 Mar 2022
Ever accidentally hit refresh on your TikTok page before you had the chance to save the best video you’ve seen all week?
All users know that pain too well, and with the millions upon millions of videos filtering through the For Your Page on the daily, it can be near to impossible to find an old video once it’s gone.
To soothe this pain point, TikTok is reportedly testing a brand-new ‘Watch History’ feature that could allow you to comb through the videos you’ve seen to find that game-changing recipe or hilarious skit whenever you need it.
Rumors of the feature first emerged when Twitter user Hammond Oh posted a screenshot showing it could be accessed via the app’s settings and privacy menu, though, as per Mashable, it appears to only be available to a select group of people who’ve had the function rolled out to their devices.
As expected, TikTok is keeping mum on its new test, telling TechCrunch it didn’t have more information to share at the moment.
“We’re always thinking about new ways to bring value to our community and enrich the TikTok experience,” a spokesperson said.
In the mean time, the only ways to recover a lost video is by following this tutorial that makes use of the app’s search filters tab, or by downloading the entirety of your history to access a “video browsing history” file.
