Wish to look the part of a wise traveler? These wearable flight safety instructions would do the job.
The best part is they come from an esteemed, trusted source—they were once the life vests used by Singapore Airlines, which for two decades held on to the top spot of Travel & Leisure’s ranking for best airline in the world.
Instead of sending expired life vests to landfills, Singapore Airlines teamed up with a women’s bag brand called Tocco Toscano to upcycle the garments into accessories. The collection, launched last December, was recently featured on Core77 and Yanko Design.

Six interpretations of the jacket emerged to cut out the excess baggage of waste: a mobile phone bag, an everyday pouch, a bifold wallet, a long wallet, a coaster, and a wristlet clutch. In remembrance of their former lives, the accessories retain the instructions and visuals printed on the decommissioned life vests.
Continuing the theme of aviation safety, old seatbelts were recycled to form bag straps. Vegan apple leather makes up other components to propel a stance on sustainability.
