Under Armour Previews Eco Global Headquarters With Sports Facilities

Sportswear giant Under Armour has announced that it is working on a brand-new global headquarters at Port Covington, which will span 280,000 square feet and become the primary base for the entire brand.
The main focus of the building’s design is eco-friendly, sustainable construction, in line with the company’s commitment to ‘Act Sustainably’. In order to accommodate an era of hybrid work that we’ve become so accustomed to, the site will hone in on interior spaces that promote collaboration.
Other than the offices, the building will be home to a flagship retail store set to be open to the public, along with state-of-the-art sports facilities, such as a track and field, multi-sport playing field, and basketball court, which will serve as a testing ground for the brand’s products.

Additionally, employees will enjoy picturesque views of the area with pedestrian pathways lining the campus and on the waterfront.
Interestingly, the company said its campus will be built using mass timber geothermal and water reduction technology, along with two separate facades on the building’s north and south end.
The north will feature a glowing façade, meant to pay homage to the city of Baltimore, and to literally light up and celebrate its local and national milestones. On the south end, the facade will be specially engineered to reduce solar heat, so as to maximize the building’s energy needs.

Patrik Frisk, Under Armour President, said the building represents the brand’s “commitment to providing our teammates with an innovative, collaborative, and flexible work environment that supports our hybrid work philosophy.”
“The design reflects Under Armour’s deep commitment to building a more resilient global community,” added Vaki Mawema, Principal of Gensler Baltimore, a company part of the project.
The campus is scheduled to be fully built by 2025.
