Sony To Roll Out ‘Pro’ PlayStation 5 Controllers With Removable Parts
By Alexa Heah, 23 Jun 2022
Despite how difficult it’s been to snag a PlayStation 5, it seems Sony is ready to roll out upgrades to its latest console, including a rumored ‘Pro’ controller for the most ardent of gamers.
Try Hard Guides’ Tom Henderson cites several sources who have said that the technology firm may debut new hardware at the end of the month, which could comprise a “genuine professional controller,” with removable analog sticks, trigger stops, and back paddles.
In pictures seen by the site, the controller seems to mostly keep to the classic style of the console but comes with special buttons under the analog sticks that’ll allow gamers to completely remove them and their components.
This could prove to be a smart way to appeal to super fans, considering that pro-gamers may want to switch out their stick units when it starts leaning towards a side, or gets “stick drift,” after hours of gameplay.
While nothing’s been confirmed just yet, it certainly seems we’re moving towards the era of pro-gamer tools for everyone.
