Dior Is No Longer Asking Valentino For Compensation Over Disruptive Fashion Show
Earlier this week, two of the world’s foremost fashion houses came head-to-head when Valentino took to the Spanish Steps at Piazza di Spagna in Rome to showcase its latest haute couture collection.
The star-studded event included Anne Hathaway, Anna Wintour, Naomi Campbell, Andrew Garfield, and Kate Hudson in the audience, no doubt adding to the extravagant fanfare of the event.
Unknowingly, the glitzy display by the Maison had drawn the ire of Christian Dior, with the brand’s retail manager asking to be paid €100,000 (US$101,480) for the fashion show’s inhibition of foot traffic at the close-by store.
It now appears Dior’s anger has subsided over the week, with new reports emerging that the luxury brand is no longer seeking compensation from Valentino and, as per WWD, is asking the latter to “disregard a previous letter.”
According to Reuters, a source said this change of heart, which was certainly surprising, was “in light of the friendly relationship” between the two houses.
With the hard feelings put to rest, could fans one day see a collaboration between the two Maisons?
