Adidas Teleports Into ‘Rick And Morty’ To Debut Multidimensional Sneakers

It’s time to get schwifty and swifty. Adidas has hopped into (presumably) Earth Dimension C-137, the home of the versions of Rick and Morty that viewers are most familiar with, with speed-boosting sneakers that help them evade baddies from portal to portal—and win at soccer.

A fun short film by Adult Swim drops Morty into a soccer match among greats like Mohamed Salah, Vivianne Medema, and Lionel Messi. Thanks to his cleats, he eases into the game immediately and earns the team a trophy.

Morty debuts neon-green soccer boots, called X Speedportal, that now exist in our world too.

Designed to “unlock multidimensional speed,” the US$250 cleats are constructed with adaptive Primeknit fabric and a lightweight carbon heel lock mechanism “for light-speed springs and physics-defying side steps.”

“Good players create time and space. Great ones leave them both behind,” Adidas describes on its website. “Sleek and super-comfortable, these soccer cleats support instant reactions with a springy, full-length Carbitex carbon plate on their firm ground outsole.”

The boots are partially crafted from upcycled materials, with at least 50% recycled content derived from this Earth dimension going into the upper.

Apart from enlisting them as cameos, the campaign taps the real-life versions of the aforementioned soccer stars to showcase the X Speedportal cleats.
