Mushroom-Inspired Ring Sets World Record For Most Diamonds—Literally Thousands!
By Alexa Heah, 26 Jul 2022
One-upping a previous 12,638-diamond-encrusted ring designed by Renani Jewels, Indian jeweler SWA Diamonds has broken the Guinness World Record for the most number of diamonds set in a single ring.
The newly-crowned accessory boasts an astonishing 24,679 gemstones—more than double the previous record holder.
The stunning piece, manufactured in the Malappuram district of Kerala, was inspired by the pink mushroom oyster, which represents the concept of eternity.
Dubbed ‘The Touch of Ami’, the incredible project took Rijisha TV, a post-graduate in Lifestyle Accessory Design at the National Institute of Design, over 90 days to create.
According to Robb Report, the intricate flower-like design of the ring was formed by pouring gold into a mold of 41 mushroom petals, before the conflict-free natural diamonds were placed atop each petal by hand.
“It is our privilege and honor that this ring was made in India and also the owner of the ring is an Indian. ‘The Touch of Ami’ also marks the triumph of entrepreneurship in the diamond sector of our state,” said Abdul Gafur Anadiyan, MD of SWA Diamonds.
We’re not sure who exactly is going to wear over 20,000 diamonds out and about on their finger, but if it’s your thing, get ready to shell out over US$95,000 for the masterpiece.
