Step into the shoes of the Mother of Dragons with HBO’s newest House of the Dragons: DracARys app, inspired by the hit phenomenon Game of Thrones.
The augmented-reality app places the lives of virtual dragons into the hands of the show’s fans, allowing them to take care of their own dragon from a hatchling to a full-grown adult. Each AR pet is unique to each person. As you raise it, it will develop its own personality traits, including temperament, just like in the original lore.
‘Valyrian’ will also be taught via the app, which is then used to control your pet dragon with a voice recognition system.
Once your new pet has hit certain milestones in its life, it will be able to roam the AR hinterlands and meet with other players and interact with them, as well.
HBO Max developed the app in tandem with Technicolor Creative Studios’ The Mill division. The game also features the Lightship AR technology used by Pokémon Go creator Niantic.
The DracARys app was created as a way to immerse fans even deeper into the world of Westeros, giving them an innovative way to view the beloved universe through a new lens, literally.
The prequel,House of Dragon, is slated to be released on August 21 and is based on George R. R. Martin’s Fire & Blood book, set roughly 200 years before the events in Game of Thrones.
