By Alexa Heah, 28 Jul 2022

As is tradition, former President Barack Obama has released his top 44 favorite songs of the summer, this time selecting a mix of pop, R&B, and hip hop tracks to sway along to while battling the heat.
“Every year, I get excited to share my summer playlist because I learn about so many new artists from your replies—it’s an example of how music really can bring us all together,” he tweeted.
This year’s mixtape includes Beyonce’s new single, popular tunes from Harry Styles, Lil Yachty, and Kendrick Lamar, as well as old-time classics by Prince, Aretha Franklin, and Bruce Springsteen.

To go along with the music, the former Head of State released his summer reading list, featuring 14 titles he’s loved thus far, such as Sea of Tranquility by Emily St John Mandel, Velvet Was The Night by Silvia Moreno-Garcia, Why We’re Polarized by Ezra Klein, The School For Good Mothers by Jessamine Chan, and Black Cake by Charmaine Wilkerson.
“I’ve read a couple of great books this year and wanted to share some of my favorites so far. What have you been reading this summer?” Obama quipped on Instagram.
