Fancy Feast, The Cat Food Brand, Is Opening A Restaurant For People
By Mikelle Leow, 31 Jul 2022

Too often, humans have affectionately looked at their pets with a side of envy. These lovable, blissfully unaware companions have never had to get a job, pay bills, or deal with the stresses of society. Yet, they’re pampered hand and foot.
While you can’t experience the full gamut of feline-tier worship, you can at least have a taste of it. Fancy Feasts—yes, the canned wet cat food brand—is opening a popup restaurant for cat lovers to live out the indulgent meal times of their pets through a human-friendly culinary experience. But no, cat food isn’t part of the menu.
Poised to serve two-footed, single-lifers in August, the new Gatto Bianco, meaning White Cat, will take to New York City with Italian-style courses in a temporary, Italian-style trattoria. As with domestic felines, diners will be served nothing but the best; the menu is developed by in-house Fancy Feast chef Amanda Hassner and Michelin-starred restaurateur Casare Casella to ring in refined treats for the human palate.

The restaurant and lineup are inspired by the new Fancy Feast Medleys canned food. Courses include baked sea bass, Tuscan-style spare rice, Osso Buck-inspired salmon, braised beef in wine sauce, a lemon panna cotta, and a chocolate-studded almond cake.
“Food has the power to connect us to others in meaningful ways and take us to places we have never been… The dishes at Gatto Bianco are prepared in ways that help cat owners understand how their cats experience food—from flavor, to texture, to form—in a way that only Fancy Feast can,” describes Hassner in a press release.
Only 16 tables will be available throughout the event dates of August 11 and 12, so it’s fastest paws first for when reservations open on August 4.
Pet owners who would much rather share this gastronomical experience with their cats might prefer to explore Fancy Feast’s new cookbook, where they’ll learn how to recreate some of Gatto Bianco’s main courses and desserts at home.
