Elon Musk Teases About Opening His Own Social Media Site, X.com

As the horns of Tesla’s Elon Musk remain locked with Twitter, those watching on the sidelines have been wondering if he has a backup plan.
Musk has now cryptically teased the possibility of him launching a rivaling social media app, called X.com.
The world’s richest man made this known on Twitter after someone asked him the question: “Have you thought about creating your own social platform? If [the] Twitter deal doesn’t come through.”
Musk then shared the domain name of the potential social venture. At present, clicking on the link directs visitors to a blank webpage that simply displays the letter X.
That’s it. That’s the tweet website.
It’s worth noting that X.com has been sitting in its current state since 2017. Prior to this, it was an online bank that Musk co-founded with three others in 1999. X.com then merged with PayPal payment system developer Continuity in 2000, The Hill reports. Musk eventually co-founded PayPal and assumed the position of CEO.
The SpaceX founder purchased X.com again from PayPal in 2017, sharing that he had reacquired it because it had “great sentimental value.”
While the site has remained dormant for years, with Musk in a legal row with Twitter, he might finally put X.com to use and take on the big bird.
