Body-Tracking Shoes Make Skipping Across The Metaverse A Walk In The Park

Virtual-reality company Surplex has created a pair of sneakers to be put on for metaverse travels. Aptly called the ‘Full-Body Tracking Shoes’, these kicks are more than just stylish or comfy; they’ll transport you to the virtual world, as well.
The futuristic silver footwear has 240 pressure sensors on each side that transmit the data to an inertial measurement unit.
In order to properly relay users’ movements and have an accurate display of them in VR, the shoes are equipped with a deep-learning AI system that can study and translate the player’s actions.
A single charge will be able to last the sneakers six hours of gameplay.
According to founder Axl Chan, the advanced in-house pressure system and AI capabilities inside the shoes allow them to accurately gather data from 3D human skeletons and adapt accordingly.
A big bonus of these new kicks is that they don’t require any straps, base stations, or dongles. All players would need to do is slip them on, and off to the metaverse they go.
As of now, the shoes are compatible with VRChat, Blade and Sorcery, and Neos VR. They are currently on Kickstarter mode.
