Find your perfect pet with one swipe now on Tinder as the dating app partners with dog shelters across the US for National Dog Week.

Tinder is tapping into perhaps one of the most desirable traits in a partner, being a dog lover, and leveraging that to match potential owners with pups. According to the company, a survey held in 2021 by Honest Paws showed that 70% of people were more likely to swipe right on a profile with a pet in it.

Guided by that finding, the brand has unleashed a novel venture called ‘Rescue Matches’ that seeks to spark love among humans and pets alike.

The app is working with five different shelters, including Wags & Walks and 4 Paws Kiddo Rescue in Los Angeles, Animal Care Centers of NYC, Anti-Cruelty Society in Chicago, and Special Pals in Houston.

How it works is that Tinder users can place a filter on a puppy that is currently in one of these shelters. This can be done within the app or by heading to a dedicated website. The filter will also show the dog’s details and location.

To celebrate the launch of the event, DOG PPL, a canine social club, has created a photo session where singles can meet potential love interests and potential pups, and get their photos taken professionally at the same time.

National Dog Week is ending on September 24, but the app will continue to run the activity until October 30.
