Burberry Appoints Daniel Lee As Chief Creative Officer After Riccardo Tisci

It’s official. Just days after presenting his final runway show, Riccardo Tisci is leaving Burberry, with the luxury fashion house calling upon Daniel Lee to take over at the helm. 

Tisci helped steer the brand towards younger customers during his five-year term, coming up with the new Thomas Burberry ‘TB’ motif that’s since featured heavily on its products. 

However, as Vogue points out, with CEO Marco Gobbetti leaving the company last year, most in the industry speculated it was only time before the designer would bow out. 

For those unfamiliar, the British designer was the Creative Director at Italian label Bottega Veneta from 2018 to 2021, and had previously designed for the likes of Celine, Maison Margiela, Balenciaga, and Donna Karan. 

Lee will be tasked with showcasing his first collection at London Fashion Week next February. 

“I am honored to join Burberry as Chief Creative Officer. Together with the team, we will write the exciting next chapter for this legendary British luxury brand, continuing its historic heritage and building on Riccardo’s legacy,” remarks Lee in a press release. 

“I am very excited to be returning to London, a city that champions pioneering creativity and that continues to inspire me.”
