Gatorade Creates Smart Squeezable Bottle & Gummies To Boost Workouts

Gatorade is weaving itself into your workouts not just with an energy boost but also recovery gummies and smart bottles.
The brand has introduced the Gx Bottle, which has a lid with a ring of LED lights that prompt you to drink more often. It will even notify you when you’ve reached your hydration goals for the day.
A dedicated app—currently only available for iOS—features nutritional and training programs and tips to recover faster after exercising.
“We were inspired to make a smart bottle that is unique to each individual athlete’s needs. Our bottle design takes cues from the beloved evergreen Gx squeeze bottles, including the 30 oz volume capacity, the flip cap with built-in pod piercer, and the ergonomic waistline,” says Sean Huls, Senior Design Director at PepsiCo, the energy drink’s parent company, in a statement emailed to DesignTAXI.
Interestingly enough, Gatorade does note that it is working on a way to track how much water you consume even when you’re not drinking straight out of its own branded smart bottle.
For now, it must be paired with the Gx Sweat Patch the company launched last year. The accessory can track how much you’ve sweated during a session and, from there, tell you how much water you will need to replenish your body.
Alternatively, if you do not wish to use the preparation patch, you can weigh yourself before and after exercise.
According to Gatorade, the Gx Bottle is the first smart squeezable bottle and the only one that has a light-up tracking system on its lid. To test the efficacy of the hydration prompts, the technology was tested by the Brazil National Soccer Team.
After you’re done working out, you can munch on some of the brand’s newly-released gummies that promote recovery and immune support. The gummies contain Vitamin D, which assists athletes before, during, and after a session.
