Tom Cruise Could Make First Space Walk By A Civilian For Upcoming Movie

Even though Russian director Klim Shipenko has claimed the honor of being the first to shoot a full-length feature film in orbit, Hollywood’s Tom Cruise could become the first person to perform a civilian space walk for an upcoming movie.
According to Space.com, the idea was first touted in 2020 to Donna Langley, the Chairman of Universal Filmed Entertainment Group. Discussions were halted due to the pandemic, but they have now resumed.
The plot, as per the BBC, will essentially see Cruise step onboard a rocket to the International Space Station (ISS), where his character will be required to embark on a hair-raising spacewalk to save the planet.
It’s no secret the A-lister often completes his own stunts, and if this movie is green-lighted by Universal, he could soon add “performing the first civilian spacewalk outside of the ISS” to his list of incredible achievements.
Interestingly, Space Entertainment Enterprise, a firm linked to Cruise, previously announced plans for its very own film studio in space. A coincidence, or the perfect partnership?
Perhaps this upcoming production will be the first to test out the studio’s production facilities when it blasts off into orbit in 2024. Mission very much possible, some might say.
