Want to live like you’re in an episode of Ted Lasso? Here’s your chance.
After watching characters Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham) and Sam Obisanya (Toheeb Jimoh) communicate via a dating app called ‘Bantr’, inspiration struck at the Bumble headquarters, it would seem.
The women-focused dating app is gearing up to launch a new segment on its platform named ‘Bantr Live’, after the fictitious site in the award-winning Apple TV+ comedy series.
In the show, ‘Bantr’ works on a “love is blind” approach where users cannot see the pictures of a potential partner. Instead, the app hooks them up with whomever its algorithm deems fits their likes and attributes.
Users on the Bumble version will have three minutes to talk to the person they are matched with, and the other person’s profile and images will be shown if all goes well.
If things don’t go as planned, you can move on to your next match. The tie-in is a way to eliminate the pressures of today’s dating scene by removing the superficial judgment and split-second decisions that have turned finding love from a light-hearted experience into a stressful one.
Bantr Live is a weekly event that will take place each Thursday at 7 p.m. local time. Those seeking to find love can RSVP by heading onto the app’s Bumble Date Mode.
The experience will be accessible to users in America, Canada, the UK, and Australia starting October 13 until the rest of the year. And, as a bonus, a two-month Apple TV+ membership will be thrown in.
