Apple Shows It’s Okay To Always Forget Your Keys With All-New Smart Lock

Apple wants you to throw your keys away with Level Lock+, an electric lock that responds to Apple’s Home app.

The new device was created by Level Home and is a battery-operated lock that includes everything needed for self-installation, from the throw to the deadbolt.

In contrast to other smart locks, this solution has no fingerprint reader nor keypad for entering a password. Instead, users are encouraged to add their digital key to the HomeKey section of the Home app, enabling them to unlock the gadget through their iPhones or Apple Watches.

Your device stores the digital key in the Wallet app.

Before the integration of the Home App, you could connect your Apple devices to other locks, but now you can also program your phone to activate it when you are nearby.

In the unfortunate event of losing your iPhone, the Level Lock+ will still be able to operate as usual for up to five hours so that you can get back in. On the other hand, if your phone has died on you after a long day out, you can also use a physical key to unlock it.

According to AppleInsider, when iOS 16.1 launches on October 23, there will be an option to share the key with others outside your household. This gives houseguests, cleaners, dog walkers, and short-term renters the ability to enter and exit your place without downloading the Level app.

If you’re interested in depending on your phone to access your house, Level Lock+ is available at the Apple store for US$329.95.
