Crest & Oral-B Bridge The ‘Smile Gap’ By Giving Kids Access To Basics

Few things are more annoying than realizing you’re left without a toothbrush and have to resort to using your finger as a makeshift for the night. Unfortunately, the “finger brush” is a daily reality for millions of children in the United States, who lack the basics we often don’t give a second thought to.
In fact, children in underserved communities with no access to oral care are up to four times more likely to have poor oral health as compared to their peers. This results in the terrible physical pain that comes with cavities and tooth decay, and the emotional burden of having lower confidence and rueing missed opportunities.
As such, to commemorate National Brush Day, Crest and Oral-B have teamed up to close America’s “smile gap,” by giving kids access to the necessities needed to maintain a sparkling smile.
For every product purchased during the month of November, both brands will donate a product to a child that needs it the most, believing that every kid has the right to oral health basics and a healthy smile.
By 2030, both companies hope to provide oral care to over 20 million children nationwide through partnerships with charities, retailers, and dental professionals across the country. At these community events, children will receive dental education, screenings, and basic care products to protect their teeth.
“Until the infrastructure is in place, Crest and Oral-B will continue to donate and make available the same products dentists use with their own families to every kid in need, every chance we can. We want to ensure every kid gets a fair chance of a healthy smile today, so their tomorrow isn’t at risk,” summed up Carlos De Jesus, Senior Vice President of Oral Care, North America at P&G.
