Daniel Arsham Summons Bronze Crystallized Charizard For ‘Pokémon’ Art Series
By Nicole Rodrigues, 02 Nov 2022
Daniel Arsham is introducing a new addition to his crystallized statue series, a bronze Charizard from Pokémon.
The new statue is a 12.2-inch figure that weighs 22 pounds and is cast in bronze with his trademark crystals emerging out of its body and eroding its wings.
Arsham and Pokémon first came together in 2020 when they announced a new collaboration known as Relics of Kanto Through Time. The crux of the series was to take the much-loved characters from the franchise and turn them into fossilized relics that have been dug up after centuries.
Since then, Arsham has gone on to create work for an animated short, exhibitions in Japan, and a collection with the clothing brand Uniqlo.
The piece comes with a customized Arsham Studio wooden box, a certificate of authentication signed by Arsham, and a pair of white art handling gloves.
The statue is launching on November 4 directly on his website.
